Embroidery
We are women who are passionate about embroidery and weaving. We embroider with our hearts because in it is the collective memory of the Andean fabric. This is why we embroider images and words – to link our spirit with that of our ancestors. In silence we join our thoughts and forces. As a group, we are weaving (vamos tejiendo) our struggles and testimonies of life and walking.
Kaypimi kashkanchik. kawsashpami katinchik, kutin purishpami kaypimi kanchik, so that the youth rise up like the water that flows to defend the Pachamama, the Sacred Fierro Urku which is source of water and life. Our resistance is to move forward as a group.

The bags we embroider are like errant posters that carry our message everywhere. They accompany us and remind us of the importance of minor acts, as everything has an impact on the fabric of life. With them we avoid colonial plastic pollution, remembering the legacy of our grandmothers by carrying only the essentials. Our bags call the public’s attention through their message and beauty.

The message is written in Kichwa as a way to reclaim our ancestral language and its relation to the land.
